The rain feast breaks the drought

The long-awaited rain has broken the dynamics of the drought in Catalonia. In Manlleu, in the Osona region, it is being well used, being very beneficial for increasing the flow of the Ter river.

The growth of the river will have a positive impact on the swamps, especially the Sau reservoir. But, this rain has also been a manna for the cattle, which feast on fresh grass, as we see in La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos.

In the images we see how, under the rain, the cows enter the river water to reach the small islands full of wet grass.

Also in the Osona region, in its capital, Vic, the rain has been noticeable, as we see in this other series of photographs. In the first image we see rain, puddles and green fields in Sentfores, municipality of Vic.

In the second, we see a puddle of water with a green landscape and the tractor, an image also captured in Sentfores.

And in the last image we see the rain on a day when it was necessary to use the umbrella again.

In the Ripollès region the rain is also showing off, as can be seen in the images of the Font Gran d'Ogassa and the Malatosca.

It seems that spring has brought hope in the fight against drought. The Government trusts this week's predictions regarding rainfall in order to withdraw the drought emergency in the municipalities supplied by the reservoirs of the Ter-Llobregat system.

Now, the Generalitat will not withdraw the emergency if the dammed volume does not significantly exceed the 16% threshold. Now it is at 15.55%.

If it continues to rain a lot, Catalonia could emerge from the emergency with the swamps at 17%, while if a heavy downpour falls they would reach 20% and it would be lifted for sure.
