The PSPV finds it "regrettable" that Educación terminated Vicent Soler as head of the Social Council of the UV

The Ombudsman of the PSPV-PSOE in Les Corts, José Muñoz, has described as "regrettable" the dismissal of Vicent Soler as president of the Social Council of the University of Valencia (UV) and of the Adeit University-Business Foundation, and has demanded that the 'president' of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, to "rethink." "These types of decisions leave him in a very bad place," he criticized.

Muñoz has asked, in statements sent to the media, that Soler be kept at the head of the Social Council of the UV, as he has defended that he is "an important person for Valencian society of recognized prestige."

The former Minister of Finance was appointed president of the Social Council and the ADEIT Foundation of the UV in May 2023, when he took over from Mª Emilia Adán, who had held both positions during the previous four years. Vicent Soler has a very extensive career in the university field and is an expert in knowledge of the Valencian economy and society. Graduated in Economics in 1972, he was a professor of Applied Economics and director of the Department of Economic Structure at the UV, after which between 2012 and 2015 he was dean of the Faculty of Economics at the UV.

In the political field, among other positions, he was councilor of Public Administration of the Generalitat between 1985-1987, councilor in the City Council of Valencia and councilor of Hacienda and Economic Model with the Botanic Government between 2015 and 2022.

In the opinion of José Muñoz, the former Minister of Finance is "a figure whose political significance and his vital commitment to Valencian self-government and the development of public policies in favor of citizens, makes it evident that he is a key person in the Valencian society of recognized prestige and that has the affection and respect of all Valencians.

"The dismissal of Professor Vicent Soler shows that Mazón has settled directly into sectarianism and censorship," he criticized, while highlighting that when Ximo Puig acceded to the Presidency of the Generalitat in 2015 "he kept in those presidencies the people who were already there".

The also Secretary of Organization of the PSPV-PSOE has reiterated that this dismissal responds to "a display of sectarianism and censorship" by the head of the Consell, whom he has asked to "rethink." "He cannot be the president of a few Valencians, he is the president of all Valencians," he maintained.
