The PSC postpones the budgets of the Hospitalet City Council due to the lack of agreement

This Wednesday, the PSC removed the approval of next year's municipal budgets from the agenda of the municipal plenary session of l'Hospitalet de Llobregat. The reason was that no agreement was reached with any opposition party.

In the last municipal elections, the socialists lost their absolute majority in the second city of Catalonia, which forces them to agree with another municipal group. But for the moment the understanding was not possible.

“We left it on the table, we have not had time to finalize the negotiation,” acknowledged the first deputy mayor, Fran Belver. “We will continue with negotiations,” he added.

The municipal government's proposal amounted to 324 million euros, which would be the highest bills in the history of the town. If they finally achieve the support or abstention of any opposition group, the green light for the budgets could come in another ordinary plenary session or in an extraordinary plenary session.

The municipal ordinances, which led to an increase in the IBI, were approved at the end of September with the support of ERC and the abstention of the common people, while the PP and Vox voted against as they have done now.

The municipal group of ERC-EUiA argued this Wednesday its rejection of the budgets, expressing that it considers them "insufficient" and the municipal government "inefficient." For Republicans, "there is an increase in spending, but this does not represent a real increase." "Almost all of the increase is due to inflation, rising costs, wage increases and supplies," they argued. "These budgets do not improve people's lives," they resolved.
