The passage in the history of the Cruz de Montigalà

The Montigalà Cross, made of reinforced concrete although originally made of stone, measures about 4 meters high. It is not far from the Iberian town of Turó d'en Boscà, in Badalona.

The cross rises on the hill of Montigalà de Badalona, right at the top of this mountain, as seen in this photograph in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia.

The first cross, designed by the architect Joan Amigó, was placed on September 28, 1913 on the occasion of the Constantinian festivities, commemorating the Edict of Milan of the year 313, in which Christianity became a tolerated religion.

The cross was destroyed during the Civil War (1936-1939) and, again, erected in reinforced concrete later. In 2013, the commemoration events for the centenary of the cross were held, from where you can see the Iberian town of Turó d'en Boscà.

The territory of Badalona was populated by the Iberians long before the arrival of the Romans. There we find the remains of a town from the 4th century BC. C. with fantastic panoramic views.

On the route you can see the wall and the defense tower, the stepped streets to overcome the uneven terrain and some homes (a house excavated from the rock stands out).
