The Oceanogràfic presents its Christmas Festival with workshops on ocean protection

As is usual during these holidays, the Oceanogràfic de València has prepared its special Christmas Festival under the sea program. The fourth edition of this festival runs from December 26 to January 5 with workshops and recreational and educational activities on marine protection and awareness aimed at family audiences.

The program was presented today at the aquarium and “it represents a great effort and a hope to be able to join the Christmas offering of the city of Valencia,” commented Eduardo Nogués.

The morning opening had the special participation of the choir from the Julio Verne School of Torrent Bilingual School, who delighted the attendees with the performance of two Christmas songs.

During these weeks, visitors who purchase their ticket to the Oceanogràfic of the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències will be able to participate in the six workshops that will be distributed throughout the Mediterranean area, with the aim of adding a new element of fun to the visit, but with a message that promotes and raises awareness of the marine ecosystem.

Six workshops for fun, learning and awareness

During these days, participants will have the opportunity to assemble their own paper toy to learn about dolphins, belugas, seals and sea lions, all marine mammals that live in the center of Valencia.

They can also participate in face painting, practice positions such as the seahorse, the star or the dolphin in marine yoga, color a Christmas card to discover the curiosities of corals and “leave their mark” on a personalized cloth bag.

As a novelty, this year a children's story-telling session has been incorporated with different stories about the marine world.

The activities will take place every day between 11:00 and 14:00, except on January 1.

A new virtual reality experience

Further expanding the experiences that the Valencia Oceanogràfic offers to its visitors, the new immersive virtual reality activity was also presented today: “Undersea Explorer”.

It is a platform equipped with cutting-edge motion technology that provides the perfect opportunity to take a 360-degree virtual “journey” across the oceans and “dive” among whales and sharks.
