The mountain of poetry in Sant Martí Xic

In the vicinity of the beautiful hermitage of Sant Martí Xic we find, in the middle of a wild environment of mountains and risks, beautiful poems and narratives by great Catalan writers, such as Mossèn Cinto Verdaguer or Josep Maria de Sagarra.

It is the perfect complement to a charming place, with extraordinary views and very careful, where the hermitage stands out, also portrayed in this report in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia.

This hermitage, included in the Inventory of the Architectural Heritage of Catalonia, was initially known as Sant Martí de Voltregà or Sant Martí del Castell, but it ended up imposing the popular nomenclature of Sant Martí Xic (that is, small) given its size.

The lack of worship led to the abandonment and subsequent ruin of the chapel, until it was restored in 1984.

At the top of the nearest mound stood the castle of Voltregà, of which only a few ruins remain today. In fact, in the past, a wall included this hermitage within the fortification enclosure.
