The voters of Torroella de Fluvià (Alt Empordà) and Fogars de la Selva (Selva) have once again voted in majority for the same mayor they have had for 44 years now. Pere Moradell (PSC) and Josep Vilà (Independents Fogars) became mayors for the first time in 1979, with the first democratic elections, and have seen how voters have placed their trust in them time and time again, without interruption, in the last twelve electoral calls.
Last week, in a telephone conversation with La Vanguardia, they explained that they were not tired of so many years in the mayor's office and that they still had a lot of desire and enthusiasm to govern their respective municipalities.
This Sunday they revalidated the confidence of their constituents. The one from Torroella de Fluvià, which has always been presented under the acronym of the PSC, has drawn four representatives, while the second most voted candidacy, El Nostre Poble-Compromís Municipal, has been left with three.
The finish photo has been much less tight than four years ago, when Moradell prevailed over the second list by a single ballot difference. On this occasion, 218 residents voted for Moradell, 54% of the electoral census; while Jordi Nierga, the head of the El Nostre Poble list, was attended by a total of 175 people, 43% of voters. On this occasion, a third candidacy was presented in the municipality, which received three votes.
The high turnout in this Alt Empordà municipality stands out, with records that are close to 75% of the total number of voters, some twenty points above the average for the province of Girona.
In Fogars de la Selva, Josep Vilà (Fogars Independents) clearly prevailed with more than 57% of the votes, thus revalidating the six councilors he had in the previous mandate. ERC was the second force with the most votes, with 16.5% of the total; Junts obtained 12% of ballots and the PSC, 11.2%. The three formations remain in opposition with one councilor each.
