The massacre of 7-O: turning point

Saturday, October 7, 2023 will go down in history as the date of the largest massacre suffered in Israel in its entire history. A turning point.

The savage and criminal terrorist organization Hamas carried out a horrific, unimaginable and unspeakable attack with crimes against humanity against Western civilization that shocked the world, but from very early on and inexplicably, in a large part of the media and On the left, the victim became the executioner. Long before Israel reacted and still counting its dead and kidnapped people, demonstrations against Israel and in favor of the Palestinian people were already taking place in some cities (in Barcelona there was one in Plaza Sant Jaume on the same day, October 10). Despite having suffered the massacre, there was a desire to blame Israel from the first moment, following the trend of recent decades that the Israelis are always the “bad guys” in the conflict. Paradoxically, Jewish institutions have been forced to increase their security and based on lies, stereotypes and manipulations, cases of Judeophobia and anti-Semitism in the world have increased with dangerous intensity.

Here in Catalonia and in Spain, the leaders of the radical left parties have demonstrated their total ignorance and with supreme insensitivity, they have not energetically condemned Hamas when they are the true enemies of peace and the Palestinian people and they also accuse genocide specific actions of legitimate defense of Israel. As Pilar Rahola says, “massacring entire families, burning babies, kidnapping children and the elderly, and raping and murdering women is not condemnable for a certain left if the victims are Israelis.” And on very few occasions, one hears calls for the immediate release of Israeli hostages in the hands of these heartless Hamas jihadists. It is also not understood why the very existence of the only Jewish state in the world is questioned and the cruelest jihadist terrorism is not repudiated when it kills Jews. Or perhaps it is very sad and worrying to understand.

Everyone claims to be specialists in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, but almost no one knows that Israel abandoned the Gaza Strip in 2005 and that it always tries to avoid innocent civilians. It is unacceptable to equate the only democratic state in the area with a jihadist terrorist organization whose sole purpose is to kill all the Jews in the world. Most Israelis advocate a peaceful two-state solution, and most Palestinians do not accept the existence of Israel.

Of course, there have also been numerous and honorable exceptions who have shown their solidarity with Israel in these difficult times.

I end with the deepest wish that the Hamas murderers release as soon as possible the almost 200 kidnapped people in their possession.
