In this perspective from Lluçanès we can see the light effect of the emblematic Pedraforca mountain, located within the area of the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park and which forms the border between the provinces of Barcelona and Lleida.
Some animals with dark hair and a white spot on their forehead are called "lucero". And, in the case of Pedraforca, it manifests itself in the "enforcadura" when it is dyed snow white, as seen in these photographs in La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos.
Its two peaks separated by a large hill are colored white, forming this "star" effect. It's all due to this peculiar shape of this mountain, with its two peaks separated by this "enforcadura".
The northern summit is composed of two peaks: the Pollegó Superior (2506 m) next to the Calderer (2505 m). The south is formed by Pollegó Inferior (2445 m).
The closest towns are Gósol and Saldes. In 1982, it was declared a natural site of national interest by the Parliament of Catalonia.
