The longest radar in Madrid begins to fine: it is located on Sinesio Delgado Street

The longest section radar in the capital, which the City Council installed in September 2023 on Sinesio Delgado Street to control that vehicles do not exceed 50 kilometers per hour, will begin to fine offenders next Monday, the 15th, after four months notice period.

In these four months, the City Council has sent information notifications to the owners of vehicles that exceeded the permitted speed, but with the end of the notice period, offenders will begin to be fined.

The penalties for exceeding the speed limits, according to the Road Safety Law, are classified as serious or very serious with amounts ranging from 100 to 600 euros and the associated loss of 2 and up to 6 points on the driving license.

“On the 15th the notice period for the Sinesio Delgado radar ends, a radar that is installed for security reasons, at the request of the neighbors, at the request of the Municipal Board. During this period, warnings have been reduced by half and, therefore, people, once they know about the installation of this radar, begin to comply with the speed limits. Therefore, we do not estimate that there will be a very high number of sanctions from the 15th,” the delegate of Urban Planning, Environment and Mobility, Borja Carabante, explained to the press this Monday.

The PP councilor has detailed, in this sense, that in November half as many notices were issued compared to September. "In November, 422 daily notices were issued, but we estimate that this figure will be reduced by around 50% in December, and, of course, with the entry into force of the sanctions on the 15th it will be reduced again by an amount very substantial,” Carabante predicted.

The one in Sinesio Delgado is the third location in which section radars are implemented in the city (along with the two-way one on the A-5, 1,735 meters long, and the one on Córdoba Avenue, exclusively in the exit direction, 1,026 meters long). meters), becoming the longest and the only one that has intermediate speed controls to capture vehicles entering through the access roads.

The radar section from Sinesio Delgado towards Ciudad Universitaria covers a total of 1,783 meters.

The starting chamber is located a few meters from the Piedrafita de Cebrero roundabout, at the height of the Ganapanes sports area, and the end of the section is located shortly before the intersection with Miraflores Avenue.

The intermediate control point is located at the intersection with Valdeverdeja Street.

In the Castellana direction, the beginning of the section radar, which extends 1,800 meters, is located shortly after the intersection of Sinesio Delgado with Miraflores Avenue; The end is located before reaching the Piedrafita de Cebrero roundabout, and the intermediate control point has been installed at the intersection of Sinesio Delgado with Doroteo Benache street.
