The Liceo denounces racist insults and “violent acts” in their match against Voltregà

The Liceo de A Coruña denounced this Wednesday that its player Fran Torres received racist insults during the OK Liga match he played on the Patí Voltregà Club court, as well as “violent acts” against his team. Voltregà has responded by categorically denying the facts and spreading videos through its website and social networks that would contradict the version of the Galician club.

“In the 42nd minute of the game, in a confrontation between Torres and Aleix Molas Serra, the local player referred to the high school player in terms that cannot be admissible in the world of sports. Once the facts were known, coach Juan Copa and the rest of the coaching staff, as well as the squad, made the immediate decision to leave the court," explains the A Coruña club in a statement collected by the Efe agency.

At that same moment, according to the Liceo's version, several fans of the Catalan team made "several attempts to attack" the members of the green team, at whom they had previously thrown "coins."

"After the media echo of the incidents of the match between our first men's team and Deportivo Liceo, we at Club Patí Voltregà categorically deny that any type of racist insult has occurred by any member of our squad, coaching staff or fan of any player from the Galician club," Patí Voltregà responded.

The A Coruña club considers that these incidents "are not an isolated act", since during the last year the expedition was already forced to leave the Catalan club's sports grounds "after the throwing of cans of beer by fans who waited for the players in the vicinity of the bus.”
