Hit Man, the new action comedy by Richard Linklater, director of films such as Before Sunrise and Boyhood, will be part of the attractive programming of the BCN Film Fest, which will feature 69 titles, including Freud's Last Session, the last work by Anthony Hopkins, or Memory, by Michel Franco, with Jessica Chastain and Peter Sarsgaard, which will be seen out of competition. The official competition section includes Daaaaaali!, where the Frenchman Quentin Dupieux dissects the figure of the famous and surrealist Catalan artist in a delirious comedy.

Of those 69 works that will be screened from April 18 to 26, a total of 15 are world premieres, 20 Spanish and eleven Catalan, as announced by the festival director Conxita Casanovas in an informal meeting with the press, in which she stated that this eighth edition will be of Asian luxury, since the number eight is that of good fortune for Asians. "Each film will have its space, its meaning, in a practical festival in which we have achieved parity naturally," she noted.

Casanovas has highlighted the importance of the discussions in an event "ideal for people who want to learn and in which spaces will be created so that everyone feels at home." From the one that Joan Báez will offer virtually after the screening of the documentary Joan Baez I Am A Noise, which explores everything from her relationship with Bob Dylan to that of an abusive father, which Meg Ryan will keep with the public on Sunday, April 21 after Lo What Happens Next, her second feature film as a director, a romantic comedy in which she co-stars alongside David Duchovny.

Another of the films present in this edition is Rest in Peace, a "very disturbing" film with a cast led by Norwegian actress Renate Reinsve. The official section is completed with the Finnish historical drama The Fate of Maya; The Promise of Irene, directed by Louise Archambault, the true story of the Polish nurse forced to work for the Nazis and who risked her life to save a group of Jews in World War II, and Hammarskjöld. Fight for peace. Its protagonist, the Swedish actor Mikael Persbrandt, will come to the BCN Film Fest to present the film. He has also confirmed the presence of J.A. Bayona, who serves as producer of Caída libre, by Laura Jou, with Belén Rueda and Irene Escolar.

Arturo Valls, Kike Maíllo, Vincent Pérez, Belén Rueda, Emma Vilarasau, Malena Alterio, Eva Llorach, Jaime Lorente and Clara Lago are other figures who will walk the red carpet of an event that will open with Casa en flames, by Dani of the Order, and will have Eduard Fernández, Clara Segura and Carles Sans as members of the official jury. To all these names, the BCN Film Fest hopes to add other directors with a film this year in the coming days.

The Cinema amb Gràcia section includes Simple as Sylvain, by Monia Chokri, and Mom, is that you?, by veteran Japanese filmmaker Yoji Yamada. And Zona Oberta adds to its list Milagros, an extraordinary bear, an inspiring story about raising awareness of environmental protection. Two titles are added in Art al Cinema: Jeff Koons: a private portrait and The Immortals and the Wonders of the Egyptian Museum in Turin, a documentary where Jeremy Irons takes us into the treasures of Egyptian culture through an imaginary journey into the underworld . In Essentials there will also be Tokio-Ga, by Wim Wenders, and Asian Madness by Cineasia will also feature the Indian film Eega (2012).

The BCN Film Fest will host a new call from the LAAB (Barcelona Audiovisual Adaptations Laboratory), promoted by the ICUB with the aim of adapting works of fiction, already edited and published, linked to the city of Barcelona and that can be adapted by the sector audiovisual.

Another novelty this year is the Screen International Award for Catalan Producer of the Year, which Screen International magazine will award to an outstanding Catalan film producer of the year. Tickets will go on sale next April 11.
