The judge sentences Antonio Baños to four months in prison for not responding to Vox

The head of the Criminal Court Number 30 of Madrid has sentenced the former deputy of the CUP in Parliament Antonio Baños to four months in prison for serious disobedience to the authority by refusing to answer the questions of the popular accusation of Vox during the trial of the 'procés', where he appeared as a witness in February 2019.

Although the leader initially faced a six-month prison sentence for the crime of serious disobedience, on the day of the trial the Prosecutor's Office reduced his request to four months in prison. Now, in a sentence, the magistrate Hortensia Oro-Pulido has deemed it pertinent to apply the prison sentence with the accessory of special disqualification for the right to passive suffrage.

In the session on September 29, the defense of Baños denied that the former deputy - who refused to testify in Spanish during the trial - committed a crime of disobedience. "There was no opposition to what was asked, but to whom (he asked)," said lawyer Carles López, who requested an acquittal for the leader.

The trial took place a day after the Supreme Court judged the CUP deputy in the Parlament Eulàlia Reguant, who was sentenced to a fine of 13,500 euros for serious disobedience to the authority for the same acts as Baños.
