The Jewish community of Barcelona has denounced new anti-Semitic graffiti in a synagogue in the Catalan capital, this time in that of the organization Chabad Lubavitch, after Monday of last week, coinciding with the day of the commemoration of the Holocaust, they appeared in Maimonidas Great Synagogue.
The Israeli Community of Barcelona (CIB) and the Federation of Jewish Communities of Spain (FCJE) have regretted in a statement that no political leader from the Government, Parliament or the City Council has condemned the events or has sent them their solidarity.
"We condemn these attacks and we ask that our mayor, our president and our Parliament do the same," affirms the Barcelona Jewish collective.
CIB and FCJE stress that "attacking Jewish prayer stands in Barcelona in protest against events taking place in Israel is a clear case of anti-Semitism."
In the same vein, the statement states that "blaming the Catalan Jews" for the conflicts in Israel indicates that the perpetrators of the aggression "are not against the State of Israel or its government: they are against the Jews and the Jews from Barcelona".
Both entities show "deep" concern about the "growing" anti-Semitism that they detect in Catalonia. They stress, in this sense, that "in less than a year" Parliament has approved a declaration that considers Israel as a State that practices apartheid, the opening of the Government Delegation in Israel has been canceled and the twinning has been broken of Barcelona with Tel Aviv and Gaza.
