The international passage breaks the roof of the Alicante-Elche and Valencia airports

The airports of Alicante-Elche and Valencia break their ceiling thanks to international passenger traffic that in November has increased by close to 20% in both cases, while the number of national travelers has increased to a lesser extent: 12.2% in Valencia and 9.6% in Alicante-Elche.

But an analysis of the origin of the travelers shows two very different scenarios. British passengers are in the majority at the Alicante aerodrome, the fifth in Spain in traffic after Madrid, Barcelona, Palma and Malaga, although in November it was seventh because Gran Canaria and Tenerife surpass it in the winter season.

The million travelers who passed through El Altet were surpassed for the first time in November, more than a third, 35%, were British, far ahead of the Spanish (14.5% of the total), the Dutch (7.3%). and Belgians (6%). What is striking is the fact that travelers from Poland (5.4%) exceeded those arriving from one of the main countries that send tourists to Spain, Germany (5%).

Throughout the year, the Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport has registered 14,706,132 passengers, with one month left to close the year, which represents an increase of 19% compared to the same period in 2022; 3.7% more than in 2019.

Valencia Airport, the eighth in Spain, both in the annual and monthly balance, has once again surpassed historical records in November by recording 691,213 travelers, which implies an increase of 17.5% compared to the same month in 2022. .

Furthermore, from January to November, it has registered a total of 9,222,809 passengers, which means it has already exceeded its best annual figure recorded in 2019 with just over 8.5 million travelers. Valencia reached 9 million travelers on November 21 and with the month closed in November it grew by 22.9% compared to the same period in 2022.

It is the one that has gained the highest percentage of passengers among the top ten in the country, both compared to 2022 (22.9%) and compared to the last year before the pandemic, 2019 (16.1%). For example, Madrid (-2.9%) and Barcelona (-6.1%) have not yet reached pre-pandemic figures and the next one that has grown the most is Málaga, with 11%.

The configuration of the passage in Valencia is very different from that of Alicante-Elche. Although the sum of international travelers also exceeds the national passage, no country alone comes close to the figure of 198,655 Spaniards who passed through Manises in November. And within the foreign group, the British barely occupy fifth place, with 7.2% of the total.

Italy is the largest foreign issuer of tourists to the Valencia airport, and exceeded 107,000 travelers in November, which is equivalent to 15.5% of the total. Behind, Germany, with 60,410; Netherlands, with 54,568; France, with 53,421; the aforementioned United Kingdom, with 51,220, and Belgium, with 25,660.
