The Generalitat has decided to repeat all the exams of the chaotic oppositions held last Saturday to stabilize the staff of the Catalan administration after verifying that more than 99% of the processes were affected by "minor, serious and very serious" incidents. The exams will be carried out by the Catalan administration itself, with its own resources, on the next 1 and 8 July.

This is what the counselor of the Presidency, Laura Vilagrà, explained in a press conference after meeting for the second consecutive day with the unions CC.OO., UGT and IAC-CATAC on this issue, which has already caused the termination of the general director of Civil Service Marta Martorell. The minister has also announced that all the people affected by the irregularities, which she has called "massive and flagrant", will be compensated ex officio, without quantifying this compensation.

Vilagrà has confirmed that the contract with Cegos, the external company in charge of managing these processes, will be terminated, and has assured that it has not collected anything from the contract of almost 1.5 million euros.

The minister has justified the decision to repeat all the exams because, in her opinion, it is evident that all the processes have been "flawed" and that "trust has been broken" with the company that they see as incapable of giving a minimum of guarantees. "Inadmissible situations were experienced in the public service. The oppositions are sacred", Vilagrà has sentenced.

The head of the Presidency has detailed that on July 1, applicants for rural agents, those for prison execution and transversal labor agents will be examined, and on July 8, those in the civil service will do so.

For their part, the unions have expressed their satisfaction with the compensation announced by the Generalitat and have demanded that, in view of experience, outsourcing of this type does not occur again in opposition processes.

Applicants have denounced widespread delays, lack of exams, crowded classes, violations of anonymity and various incidents that caused the cancellation of some of the processes.

The various incidents reported by the participants have led the Grievance Ombudsman to investigate the case ex officio and Viladrà herself will appear before a committee in Parliament this Friday to give explanations in this regard.
