The Generalitat will promote a tram in Elx that links Carrús with the Business Park

The president of the Generalitat Valenciana, Carlos Mazón, visited the Elx Town Hall this morning accompanied by the mayor Pablo Ruz, where he was received in the plenary hall by the municipal government, the spokespersons and the Queens and Ladies of the festivities. Mazón has signed the city's book of honor and has also received a bust of the Lady of Elche.

After the reception, Mazón met with the mayor and members of the municipal government to discuss some of the projects that are priorities for Elx over the next few years.

The President of the Generalitat has shown his commitment to make the arrival of the tram to Elx a reality in this legislature, "since the City Council, the Generalitat and the Provincial Council are now aligned" to develop this project that will connect Carrús with the Business Park.

Mazón recalled that as president of the Provincial Council, he already commissioned the tender for the study of the tram “to save time and demonstrate that he deserves, can and should have the tram. Now this project is at cruising speed.” He has affirmed that "before there was a Generalitat and City Council that did not believe in the project, but now they do believe that Elche can, should and deserves a tram in good condition".

Thus, he said, "an initiative is going to be launched aimed at the Provincial Council so that three parties share the study that the provincial institution has in tender to share with the Generalitat and the City Council this study in tender and be able to assume for the development competence of the infrastructure of the execution project of the commissioning of the tramway”.

Another priority is the remodeling of Clarisas, to convert this space into the headquarters of the Museum of Contemporary Art of the Valencian Community. According to Mazón, the contacts have already begun and "it is a priority from Culture that we are going to comply with."

The president has also included in his list of priorities the completion of the South Round, "which has to do with the security, connectivity and structuring of the region." In this way, "the completion of this project will be urgently resumed with the remaining 1.8 kilometers and which has an initial budget of 20 million euros."

In addition, he has been interested in the evolution of a series of health infrastructures, in the case of the Travalón health center and the Torrellano doctor's office "that the area minister already has in his portfolio" and at the educational level the Edificant Plan, which in the words of Mazón "has been one of the great fiascos of the Valencian government" with projects that must continue, such as the Virgen de la Luz school, El Altet and Torrellano. "We come to meet Elche", he assured.
