The full wolf moon illuminates the churches

The full moon of the wolf illuminates the churches on the night of the first full moon of the year 2024, as seen in Las Fotos de los Lectores de La Vanguardia in this series of photographs taken in Campdevànol, Gombrèn and Cardona.

Although the first full moon of the year will be officially shown this January 25 starting at 2:54 p.m., last night it already shined in splendor. Now, it is estimated that it will be around 6:54 p.m. this Thursday when the moment of greatest visibility will occur, according to the National Astronomical Observatory.

The full moon of the first month of the year is known as the wolf moon since the Native American people associated this time with an increase in the howling of these animals around their villages.

It is believed that wolves took advantage of the moonlight to come out of their burrows and hunt, which is why this nickname ended up being given to the full moon in January.

The next full moon of the year 2024 will not be seen until February 24. Until then we can contemplate some of the moments that the full wolf moon is leaving us this January shining around the churches.
