The friendly town of Villafranca del Cid

Today I would like to show in La Vanguardia's Readers' Photos some photographs taken in Villafranca del Cid, in the Castellón dels Ports region. This is a fairly isolated town due to the geography that surrounds it. And you have to think that just where the buildings were built are already 1125 meters above sea level.

But within this same municipal area, we find mountains of almost 1700 meters to give us an idea.

Although beyond the theory and geography of this municipality, I would like to comment on a couple of things. One of them would be the friendliness of the people. This was one thing that surprised me, since everyone we met on the street and regardless of age, whether they were talking on the phone or whatever, had no qualms about greeting us. Without a doubt, a situation that I have practically never encountered before anywhere else.

Another situation worth highlighting that I found in this town was the wind. A wind of remarkable intensity that made signs, blinds, trees move... the kind that makes you feel cold and even a little afraid.

And if we focus more strictly on the structure or buildings of this town, what caught my attention the most was its church, the narrow streets of the historic center, its wide Plaza de Don Blasco and some houses clad on the outside with stones. .

So this discreet town between mountains stands out for its great little things. Little things like its friendliness, its narrow streets, the warmth of the neighbors, its small museum... Villafranca del Cid, a modest but elegant town inside and out.
