“The foundations of the Housing Law are raised on the ashes of the Hipercor attack”

When the political anger around Bildu's electoral lists seemed unable to escalate, a PP senator broke the most prudent forecasts with a statement from the Upper House podium this Wednesday that has not gone unnoticed: "The foundations of the Housing law are raised on the ashes of the Hipercor shopping center, "he denounced.

The Senate was debating the approval of the regulation, the first for democracy in the area of housing, approved in Congress with the help of the usual partners of the coalition government, including Bildu. The PP senator for Madrid, Pedro Rollán attacked the law and his political ties to the Abertzale party, pointing out that the processing of the initiative "is clear proof of the alliance of the PSOE and Bildu."

Far from stopping there, Rollán went beyond what his party had gone up to now. With the memory of the fierce debate between President Pedro Sánchez and the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, on Tuesday in the same Chamber, where the popular accused the head of the Government of being "more generous with the executioners than with the victims", The senator criticized that "the foundations of this law are built on the ashes of the Hipercor with 21 dead, on the rubble of the Plaza República Dominicana where 12 civil guards were killed and on the twisted iron of the Zaragoza barracks."

Far from talking about the content of the law, Rollán insisted on his disqualifications of the Government, which he accused of "dragging in a humiliating manner before Arnaldo Otegi". And he only pointed out about the norm that in the countries where rent ceilings have been applied, the offer has been reduced and it has been a "disaster". He also predicted that something similar to what happened with the 'only yes is yes' will happen with it, with which "pretending to benefit the emancipation of our young people, it will be the squatters, Bildu and ERC who come out on top".

The bill for the Right to Housing, which allows autonomous communities and town halls to limit the rental price, received its final approval this Wednesday in the plenary session of the Senate after a debate marked by the proximity of the municipal and regional elections of 28 May, as evidenced by Rollán's arguments.

The PP senator is a member of the Management Committee and vice-secretary for Municipal Policies, but he was also vice-president of the Community of Madrid, deputy of the Madrid Assembly and mayor of Torrejón.
