The flood of requests for the 200-euro check saturates the website of the Tax Agency

Just a few minutes after the Tax Agency opened the possibility of requesting the new check of 200 euros for vulnerable people, at 9 in the morning, the website had problems accessing the form. At some point, it even found itself collapsed. The flood of interested parties, greater than the number of families that were entitled to the previous aid, has caused this situation, they indicate from the Ministry of Finance. The Government estimated that the aid could reach 4.2 million homes.

The problems, however, began to be solved an hour after the activation of the web. Around 10 in the morning the specific portal was already working normally.

Taxpayers with incomes of less than 27,000 euros per year can now request from this Wednesday until March 31 the check for 200 euros that is not finalist and that can be used for any expense. It will be paid by bank transfer.

The aid was approved by the Government in the last package of measures to try to alleviate the effects of the war in Ukraine and inflation, with a budget of 1,200 million. Individuals with an annual income of up to 27,000 euros in 2022 and with assets of less than 75,000 euros per year as of December 31 of that same year have access to the check.

In addition, to be entitled to the check, the beneficiaries will have to have a habitual residence in Spain and have carried out some activity on their own or someone else's account in 2022 that has led to registration with Social Security or mutual benefit, or have received some unemployment benefit or subsidy.

The Treasury specifies that recipients of the minimum vital income (IMV) or pensioners will not be entitled to aid.
