The first shipment of Spanish Leopard tanks bound for Ukraine leaves the port of Santander

The first shipment of Spanish Leopard tanks has already left the port of Santander (Cantabria) bound for Ukraine, Defense Minister Margarita Robles announced this Saturday. The six tanks have embarked tonight together with 20 transport vehicles "and are already heading towards Ukraine, where they will arrive in 5 or 6 days", the minister detailed in statements to the media in Madrid.

The six 'Leopard' 2A4s have been repaired and tuned up at the Santa Bárbara company factory in Alcalá de Guadaíra (Seville) and have undergone certification tests by the Army at Cerro Muriano, in Córdoba.

Once these phases were completed, they were transferred by road to Santander to be sent from there to Poland, where all the military aid that countries send to Ukraine is received and distributed.

These are the first six 'Leopard' committed by the Government of Pedro Sánchez, but there are four other tanks that are already being rehabilitated to also join the Ukrainian Army in the coming weeks.
