The fire that forced the eviction of several houses in Moraira (Alicante) has been stabilized

The fire declared this Saturday in the area of Cala Llebeig, in Benitatxell, very close to Moraira, has been stabilized early in the morning, according to the Alicante Provincial Firefighters Consortium. Some 120 residents of the nearby villas of the coastal town were evicted and have had to spend the night in a sports center.

Around a hundred land means are still deployed in the place to secure the perimeter of the fire as well as air means, which have been incorporated since 7:30 a.m. this morning, according to the Emergency Coordination Center of the Generalitat.

During the night, drone surveillance flights have been carried out to detect hot spots and possible new outbreaks and there have been no significant incidents. On Saturday afternoon, situation 1 of the Special Plan for Forest Fires was established, in case it could seriously affect forest assets and slightly affect the population and non-forest assets.

Yesterday, up to five aerial means worked to extinguish the fire, as well as units of the Generalitat's forestry brigades with fire engines, and firefighters from the Alicante Provincial Council. The regional secretary for Security and Emergencies, José María Ángel, is expected to attend a meeting at the Advanced Command Post at 10:30 today to analyze the evolution of the fire.

The possible causes of the fire have not yet been advanced, which occurred on a day of intense heat throughout the province of Alicante, much higher than usual at this time, with strong gusts of wind and storms that unloaded isolated showers in several regions.
