The Federation denounces the leaks of the VAR audios to the Civil Guard

The Spanish Football Federation announced this Tuesday that it has filed a complaint with the Civil Guard for the leak of the VAR audios. Some conversations that they describe as “totally professional and private” and for which they have also opened an internal investigation.

The Technical Committee of Referees has shown its indignation at the publication of the conversations between Hernández Maeso (main referee) and Hernández Hernández (VAR referee) in Real Madrid's controversial victory over Almería last Sunday.

“The RFEF, which maintains an internal investigation open after the aforementioned event, considers that it is extremely serious that this audiovisual material has been extracted and hopes that a response will be found as soon as possible to determine responsibilities,” explains the Federation in a statement.

The federative body also ensures that “the necessary measures will be adopted to guarantee the security of all communications” from now on. Two weeks ago the audios of the plays reviewed by the VAR began to be published, but only those that have been shown on the monitors to the main referee. After the controversy in the Real Madrid-Almería match, Jijantes had access to all the full conversations of the entire match and published some excerpts of controversial plays that were not reviewed, such as Vinícius's elbow to Pozo without the ball for which the Real Madrid players Almería asked for the expulsion of the Brazilian, but not only was he not sanctioned, but the action was not reviewed on the screens either.
