The expert trick that you didn't know to make your redhead last longer

Neither blonde nor brunette, redhead is undoubtedly the trending color of the season. This is evidenced by well-known faces such as the singers Dua Lipa or Aitana - although the latter has recently returned to her natural tone - and in hair salons, where they confirm that demand has increased. "Many girls are tired of always wearing blondes and redhead is a very feminine, current and totally trendy tone," highlights Pedro Moreno, Education Manager at Jean Louis David.

But taking care of this color is not easy and to avoid falling into that faded orange, you have to maintain an exhaustive washing routine and combine it with visits to the hairdresser to hydrate your hair with professional treatments. To try to unravel the secrets and tricks of this famous dyeing, Jean Louis David and Franck Provost open the doors of their salon and reveal everything there is to know to prolong this dyeing and make it look like the first day.

"The red hair color looks good on almost everyone, however, it is an ideal - or more natural - tone for people with sweet features, light complexion and light eyes," highlights Carlos Fernández, Education Manager at Franck Provost. For this hair professional, brunette women should opt for tones such as burgundy or mahogany, as is the case with Dua Lipa, and those with lighter skin should opt for a brighter palette.

For Pedro Moreno, Education Manager at Jean Louis David, the important thing is that the color is "adapted and constructed with different changes in its luminosity depending on each haircut."

Any dyeing, but especially one as aggressive as red hair, should be done on healthy hair. For Fernández, it is vital to take into account the condition of the hair from its roots to the ends and apply one dye or another depending on whether it is already dyed hair or natural hair: "if the hair is natural, we will start with the mediums and the ends and then we will dye the roots but, if it is hair that has already been dyed, it is important to reverse the process, start at the roots and see what color we will use in the middles and ends according to that dyed base," he assures.

"At Jean Louis David we use a technique that consists of degrading the color as naturally as possible to illuminate the material with a melted effect," confirms Moreno, who warns that red tones are very easily pigmented and therefore it is crucial to maintain it using At home, use a suitable shampoo to fix the pigment and combine it with the application of products with vitamin B5, which protect the hair from external aggressions, such as the sun, sea water or pollution.

From the Franck Provost salon, Carlos Fernández details that at home it is important to use "products that have UV filters, proteins and nutrients that hydrate and respect the internal nutrition of the hair and the color is maintained uniformly from roots to ends." To enhance its shine and the nuances it presents, this hair professional recommends performing a treatment between dyeing and dyeing to recover the hair's nuance.

In addition to using the right products in each wash, Fernández reveals a little expert trick to hydrate your hair even more and maintain that vibrant reddish color. "I advise applying conditioner before and after shampooing. This way the fiber will be coated and the color will be protected from washing. In addition, the conditioner and mask used must be special to enhance and protect the color," says the expert. by Franck Provost.
