For its part, the Lebanese Army said that "military units belonging to the Israeli enemy shelled the outskirts of the towns of Chebaa, Halta, Kafr Shuba and Al Habariyeh with artillery and tanks" after launching missiles towards Israel.

He also indicated that the Lebanese military has been deploying in the border areas since the war between Israel and Lebanon broke out, and that they are "closely monitoring the situation" in coordination with the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon ( FINUL).

Israel already fought a war in 2006 against Hezbollah forces in Lebanon, and since then both countries remain technically at war, separated by the so-called Blue Line, a boundary demarcated by the UN, and still guarded by its troops.
