The DANA leaves several affected buildings and 10 rescues in cars trapped by water in Catalonia

The Fire Department of the Generalitat is working for the "return to normality" after the downpours of water caused by the cold drop or DANA (Isolated Depression at High Levels) in recent hours in Terres de l'Ebre, especially in the Montsia.

In statements to the press in Amposta, the inspector of the body Oriol Corbella explained that the work is focused on draining water from basements and underground parking lots and that 47 vehicles were concentrated in the tasks, of which 17 were extractor pumps.

In addition, he stated that throughout the episode 12 people have been rescued, 10 of whom have had to be saved from inside cars. The vehicles were mainly in underground passages that have been denied. The most affected areas were Santa Bàrbara and Alcanar, especially the part of Alcanar Platja.

Despite this balance, he celebrated that there had been "no personal damage or injured people" as a result of the storm, despite the fact that "some cars were carried away" by the force of the water. The fact that the heaviest part of the downpour fell at dawn and first thing in the morning, when "people were already at home and did not go out," contributed to avoiding injuries, he stressed.

The cold drop, however, has left 18 "damaged" buildings, although not necessarily with structural danger, and 13 affected infrastructures, especially bridges and walks, Corbella has reported.

For this reason, two architects review these affectations to assess the severity of the damage. Some evaluations, he warned, that will surely take time to finish. "They are in the most affected areas verifying that there is no danger," she said. In fact, he has warned that not all the damage has been quantified yet.

For its part, the circulation of trains between L'Aldea and Ulldecona (Tarragona) has been restored this Monday after being interrupted since this Sunday as a result of the isolated depression at high levels (DANA), Renfe and Adif have reported to Europa Press.

The normalization of the service will be gradual, so some trains may suffer "significant delays."

Renfe has announced to travelers that they will be able to cancel or change their ticket free of charge if they consider not making their trip. This measure by the railway company was already adopted this Sunday in the different services affected by the storm.

Adif technicians have also restored traffic on the Madrid-Andalusia high-speed line at around 01:30 at night, although with speed limits between La Sagra and Yeles (Toledo). The section had been interrupted by the accumulation of water that affected different operators that circulate on the line.

The trains that were on the route during the suspension have been able to continue to their destination, although at this time a train remains stopped in Mora (Toledo). Likewise, while waiting to know Adif's forecasts, the first trains, both the services with Andalusia and the Avant de Toledo and Ciudad Real will not leave their origin.
