The crime of the twins: "We leave it fried and then it is crushed"

"We leave it fried and then it is mashed." This is one of the many audio messages that the popular jury has been able to hear in the fourth session of the trial for the crime of the Vázquez twins. The nine members of the court have been able to listen to two very revealing audios that determine that the murder of Pedro Fernández, partner of one of the sisters, was planned. One of the incriminating WhatsApp messages was exchanged between the accused Pilar Vázquez and her boyfriend Isaac Gil, the perpetrator of the crime. The man had bought an electronic device with which he intended to give the victim "a spark" and sent a video to his partner informing him of the new acquisition.

"I believe that with 12,000 volts a person is struck down, electrocuted. But if there is a bigger one, then bigger. In short, for once it will be... what you see. But with the sparks that it gets, that has to be be very doubled up. Today is Wednesday and it has to be Friday at the latest. In theory, on Friday I would come here, I would go to your house and once I'm not breathing, we'll get to what we're going to do, transport. Yes "He sees that it is little for one person and there are others that are bigger, so bigger. Overall: it will only be for once." And from there is when Pilar makes the plan concrete. "If it is done well, it will be left fried and once fried there it is crushed. Well I don't know. You could try it, my head is in a mess, it's quite a lot of 2000 volts, if they hit the key spot then yes, you know?"

The messages recovered by the Mossos d'Esquadra from the dumping of the contents of the terminals reveal the state of mind of the accused and how an increasingly stronger spirit of revenge against the victim is developing in them and culminates in his murder. on July 9, 2021. The messages exchanged between Dolores and Pedro, the deceased, show a tense relationship that becomes toxic. The victim a few days before the crime, on July 2, sends him an audio in which he tells him that he is fed up with his jealousy: "I can't stand it (jealousy). I love you but I can't be like this, with doubts. Life is like that. You and I are not unique. And if not, then I'm leaving and that's it. I'm not going to be there for you every day," he told her.

The arguments led Dolores to tell her sister Pilar that Pedro did not treat her well. That generated a trace of hatred in the twin that began to emerge. One of the conflicts arose because Pedro reproached his girlfriend Dolores that she had stolen a check for 1,700 euros. Dolores wrote to Pilar: "I'll keep the heel. I don't ever want to see him in my fucking life. And woe betide him for coming to my house. I don't want to see him at my house. I hate him, he's a liar." And Pilar responded: "Thief, son of a bitch, liar. You don't do that to my sister. And now, you're going to get what you deserve."

The week in which the events occurred, the couple allegedly planned the crime and carried it out with the consent of their sister. Pilar sent an audio to her boyfriend Isaac: "I've talked to my sister on the phone and she's bad, bad. We've been talking... because she can't take it anymore, and it's normal... about how to get chloroform, honey, to put him to sleep and then ... that, you know? Why doesn't she want this Friday to happen now? And I agree with that. So if we get that so that she can sleep on it and we can finish it off, then it's done on Friday night. I I ask for my personal day."

According to the prosecution, the entire crime was planned. Following the trail of the messages, it was discovered that on the night of the events, Isaac sent his sister-in-law a message in which he informed her of the time at which they would appear at the home to kill Pedro. "At 2 am there," she texted him. Dolores had already convinced her boyfriend so that despite the tensions she would agree to spend the night at her house. To do this, she wrote to him: "I'll call you when I get home and that way we can sleep together. I love you." According to the account of the events carried out by the Mossos d'Esquadra and recorded in the prosecution's brief, the three accused planned how and when to carry out the murder.

Dolores was waiting at home for her sister and brother-in-law to show up. She opened the door and they caught Pedro off guard, who was sleeping in his girlfriend's bed. The accused Isaac hit him on the head with a goat's leg but he did not end his life immediately. The victim managed to escape from the apartment, go out to the landing and go down to the lower floor. But the accused caught up with him and continued hitting him until he finished off. Pedro received at least twelve blows to the head. Afterwards, the two accused cleaned the remains of blood that remained on the landing and wrapped the body in a blanket that they had brought for the occasion. Eight hours before the crime, Pilar wrote to Isaac: "Take a blanket or something, okay darling? See you later."
