The candidacy of the mayor of Sant Vicenç de Montalt disintegrates

A dispute for number two on the electoral list of Seguim, which was led by the current mayor of Sant Vicenç de Montalt (Maresme), Víctor Llasera, has ended with the candidacy that was presented in the next municipal elections. According to Sumem sources, Cristian Garralaga, has forced Llasera to go number two, when he had been offered number three, an option that the current mayor has rejected.

The dispute ended with the departure at the last moment of the two added councilors of Units, Cristian Garralaga, former councilor of the PSC and Miquel Rovira, former spokesperson for the CUP and previously a convergent militant. Both have decided to abandon Llasera's candidacy and accept the Units offer to join Valents, the conservative formation led by Eva Parera and which includes a large number of former PP militants, such as Marco Fernández, former popular president in Mataró, now for Valents in Badalona.

Llasera's reaction has taken the rest of the nine formations that are running in the municipal elections of Sant Vicenç de Montalt by surprise, a highly controversial square in which numerous extra-political circumstances concur electorally, such as the participation of defecting councillors, not affiliated and even some defendant for corruption takes center stage. The internal dispute in Seguim, then, has dynamited any option to keep Mayor Llasera as a candidate.

The decision of the first mayor to retire from active politics and not run for re-election has come once Garragala demanded that he go number two, a place reserved for the current councilor, Lydia Gerónimo, as had been agreed at the beginning. Detecting that the political journey of the candidacy began with impositions, controversies and personalities, Llasera has decided to break with the formation and disrupt the electoral candidacy, thus rejecting the pressures of a sector of local businessmen who promoted him to the mayor's office.

The controversy has been the culmination of the discussion generated since La Vanguardia announced the project for the Golf lands. While from Seguim they were in favor of a popular consultation and studying in detail the proposal of the Dïaz Varela family, once the break with Units occurred, this formation became in favor of not allowing buildings in the area classified as sports.
