The board of directors of Barcelona has given its approval this Thursday afternoon to the financing, worth 1,500 million euros, of the Espai Barça and hopes to obtain the approval of investors this Friday so that the works can start definitively in the summer of the Camp Nou and of all its surroundings.

From two in the afternoon this Thursday, the Barcelona managers held a summit at the Blaugrana stadium. Laporta and his fellow board members already agree but there will be no official statement until investors, led by Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan, give their approval.

In principle, these 1,500 million would be divided into three tranches with an interest rate that could be around 6%.

The start of the works will cause the transfer from Barcelona to the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. In this sense, the club had until this Friday as the deadline to notify UEFA, through the Spanish Federation, in which stadium it will play its matches next season. Barça has already sent it to the Federation that will play in Montjuïc.

Financing was the main item on the agenda, but not the only one. The managers also discussed sponsorship issues and a possible first-team tour of Japan this summer. In another order of things on the table the issue of the wage bill arose. Barcelona has to reduce it by 200 million this summer. That is why the football director, Mateu Alemany, was present at the meeting.

The thorny Negreira case was also addressed. The internal investigation continues and the club insists that an appearance by the president will be announced after Easter.
