The attorney general comes to the defense of the prosecutors accused by Ayuso's partner

The State Attorney General, Álvaro García Ortiz, has defended the chief prosecutor of Madrid, Pilar Rodríguez, and the prosecutor of the investigation against the boyfriend of the regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, making it clear that he assumes responsibility for the note of press published on March 14.

"I institutionally assume ultimate responsibility for the press release issued by the Provincial Prosecutor's Office of Madrid," said García Ortiz in an institutional statement after the inauguration of several prosecutors, in which he addressed the controversy over the note, in the that details were given about the investigation of Alberto González, for the alleged crimes of tax fraud and document falsification.

An issue that has led Ayuso's partner and the Madrid Bar Association to file complaints for alleged revelation of secrets against the chief prosecutor of Madrid, Pilar Rodríguez, and the economic crimes prosecutor, Julián Salto.

"I do not intend to allow the chief prosecutor of Madrid or the prosecutor in charge of the case to be disturbed by exercising criminal action in the face of the possible commission of acts of a criminal nature," said García Ortiz.

In this regard, he wanted to make it clear that "the duty of confidentiality cannot be considered violated when the object of the communication is in the public domain as a result of undesirable leaks", in reference to the information that appeared in various media, prior to the press release, that already revealed details of that investigation.

In fact, he stated that "the communication from the Prosecutor's Office did not contain information that could harm the right of defense or confidential data that would have any procedural impact in a subsequent judicial procedure." "I will not tolerate that any prosecutor has to bear the consequences of the transparent operation of our institution," she added.

García Ortiz has acknowledged that he was informed of the publication of "a statement that was limited to denying, with chronologically systematized facts, fallacious and interested information previously published by some media."

With this institutional declaration, the attorney general sends his "support to the colleagues" of the Provincial Prosecutor's Office of Madrid, who "have done nothing but fulfill their duty to truthfully inform citizens with absolute transparency, prudence and within the margins and limits that marks our legal system".
