The arrebol of Santa Maria de Palau

I have captured these photographs of the sunrise in Santa Maria de Palau, in Gurb, Osona region, for The Readers' Photos of La Vanguardia. They are images in which this hermitage shares the spotlight with the arbol sky.

The arbol is the color that is seen in the clouds illuminated by the sun's rays, especially at dawn. It is also known as candilazo, which is the reddish-orange color seen in the sky.

The candilazo is a meteorological phenomenon in which the clouds in the sky show a wide palette of colors that ranges from pink to the most intense orange.

As part of the phenomenon of dispersion of sunlight, in the morning and afternoon hours, when the sun is closer to the horizon, the light that reaches the Earth is of soft tones between red and orange.

The hermitage of Santa Maria de Palau is located north of the municipality of Gurb and belongs to the parish of Sant Esteve de Granollers de la Plana. The church is Romanesque and Baroque in style, as it was built between the 12th and 18th centuries.

It is located at an intermediate point between the towns of Manlleu, Vic and Sant Hipòlit de Voltregà and near the old royal road that went from Barcelona to Puigcerdà.
