A few days ago there was a stir due to the publication of the salary received by the main presenters of TVE following the request of the Público newspaper. However, the controversy has risen again in the last few hours due to a second request from the same medium: the amount that RTVE paid for the Benidorm Fest 2023, the pre-selection gala to choose the Spanish representative for Eurovision 2023.
The public channel not only invested 42% more than the previous year, but one of its presenters received 35,000 euros less than the rest. We are talking about Inés Hernand in front of Mónica Naranjo and Rodrigo Vázquez. A figure that has greatly angered the presenter, which she has not hesitated to complain about through social networks.
The request of the Público newspaper, already resolved by RTVE to guarantee the transparency of all its processes, regarding the salary of the presenters of the Benidorm Fest is giving a lot of talk. And, above all, it has angered one of the parties involved in the issue.
The celebration of Benidorm Fest 2023, which ended with the victory of Blanca Paloma and her EaEa, cost RTVE 4,069,328 euros, which represented an increase of 41.58% compared to the previous year. According to the figures provided by Público, "all items of RTVE spending in 2023 have increased compared to 2022", with the exception of "artistic" expenses. But what is most striking is the financial compensation of the presenters.
In the budget with the production company Boomerang TV “the following amounts are included without identifying the names of the presenters to whom it corresponds: presenter €50,000.02, presenter €15,000.02 and presenter €50,000.02. However, the public channel does not reveal, despite the express request of the newspaper, to whom each figure belongs.
In any case, it is easy to draw conclusions because Rodrigo Vázquez was the only male presenter. Therefore, that “presenter €50,000.02 would correspond to the driver of El Cazador.
As for the other €50,000.02 and €15,000.02 remaining for the presenters, it has also been possible to reveal who each figure would correspond to. It has been done by one of those involved, Inés Hernand, who confirmed through her social networks that she had received 35,000 euros from her colleagues.
A confirmation that came in the form of monumental anger. It is not for less. "Come on with this very small, testimonial and symbolic difference of earning €35,000 less than my two fellow presenters at the Benidorm fest, look how laughable and how good I feel", assured the humorist, adding irony and adding multiple clown emoticons.
But it is not the first time that Hernand earns less than his fellow presenters. In the first edition of the Benidorm Fest, as revealed by Maldita.es, Máximo Huerta and Alaska received 18,000 euros each, while the comedian received 7,500 euros.
Certainly, for the Benidorm Fest 2023 this figure has doubled for Hernand, but the €50,000.02 of Rodrigo Vázquez and Mónica Naranjo are far away.
