Seas of fog covering the Plana de Vic, spring flowers that try to stand out despite the presence of the Brocken spectrum and arcs of fog that seem to build bridges in the landscape of Osona. All this is manifested in this series of images in The Photos of the Readers of La Vanguardia captured from Voltregà.
We are located in the Voltreganès. Ruins, sanctuaries, churches, castles, farmhouses and the mystery of the fog give a special touch to this territory with two reference towns: Sant Hipòlit de Voltregà and Las Masies de Voltregà.
The Brocken spectrum is the apparently enormous and magnified shadow of an observer, cast on the upper surfaces of clouds on the far side of the sun.
The phenomenon can appear on any foggy mountain slope or cloud bank. In this case, the spectrum was formed with the early morning fog in the Voltreganès.
Another phenomenon that we see is the arc of fog. When the fog disperses and with the sun behind us, this arc is sometimes formed. It's like a rainbow but white.
Fog is a very common phenomenon throughout the Plana de Vic, an elongated depression in a north-south direction that constitutes the central nucleus of the Osona region, the area of Spain with the most days (a hundred) of fog per year.
Fog is a meteorological term that refers to the suspension of small water droplets that together form very low clouds, near or at ground level.
