Sánchez rules out an electoral repetition: "This democracy will find the formula for governability"

"Thank you, thank you and thank you." After the party in which the electoral day of 23-J ended for the Socialists, Pedro Sánchez has met this Monday in Ferraz the PSOE executive, who has received him with great applause and heartfelt hugs. And the first thing that the President of the Government, now in office, has done is to convey his gratitude to the almost 11 million Spaniards who "have voted for progress", to block the way for a Popular Party executive with the extreme right of Vox. "This country has said no to involution and regression," he celebrated. “And it is a reference for Europe and for the world”, he highlighted. "They will not pass!", chanted the socialist sympathizers the day before.

Sánchez has highlighted the electoral growth of the PSOE, in seats, in votes and in percentage. "It is not that we have reached 30%, but that we have reached 32%", highlighted the socialist leader.

"Now, vacations," warn leaders of the federal executive. And it is the same thing that Sánchez has transmitted in the internal meeting: “That people rest and enjoy the holidays. The country, the media… everyone”, he pointed out. The head of the Executive has recalled that the next August 17 is expected to constitute the new Cortes. “And surely this democracy will find the formula for governability”, Sánchez highlighted. With these words, Sánchez has trusted that there will be an investiture and has thus wanted to rule out the hypothesis of an electoral repetition.

"Without rushing or racing," warn socialist sources. "The country has to rest," they argue. However, in the PSOE they prescribe that all the parties, now, analyze their own results, without precipitation. The 23-J polls, they say, have provided messages for all formations, which must now "rest."

To begin with, the Popular Party. In Ferraz they do not contemplate, at least for now, a meeting between Pedro Sánchez and Alberto Núñez Feijóo. Perhaps in September, as events unfold. Although it is evident that some socialist leaders are betting that Feijóo and the PP are cooking in their own sauce. In Ferraz they warn that there is an intense "internal noise" in the conservative formation. "It remains to be seen if Feijóo reaches the investiture," they warn. And they remember that he already has the no's in advance that would make his investiture impossible. "We are not in a hurry," they emphasize.

Some socialist cadres, in any case, emphasize the "humiliation" suffered by the PP leader the day before, on the balcony of Genoa, when supporters interrupted him to acclaim Isabel Díaz Ayuso. And they suggest that Feijóo could follow in the footsteps of his predecessor, Pablo Casado, who was ousted by the PP himself. "We are going to let the PP clarify itself," they point out.

In the PSOE they also put the accent on the electoral push demonstrated by the PSC of Salvador Illa this Sunday at the polls. "Pedro Sánchez's policy in Catalonia, which has not had the support of the PP at any time, means that a constitutionalist party has more votes and more seats than all the independence movement together," Ferraz highlighted. This is one of the lessons from the 23-J polls, which the Socialists urge Junts for Catalonia to analyze. Remember, in any case, that this formation has two souls. And, in any case, they call on the formation of Carles Puigdemont to make "a reflection" on the result of the elections in Catalonia.

"We are the first force in Catalonia and the Basque Country, and that is to integrate Spain", they settle in the PSOE.
