Sánchez criticizes that the regional tax reductions only benefit Madrid

From New York, where he has participated in the UN General Assembly, President Pedro Sánchez not only defended the introduction of a tax on large fortunes –“social justice will come from tax justice”–, but also criticized the fact that there are communities advertise sales to attract businesses.

"The tax reduction in some territories benefits the most powerful, which is Madrid, due to the capital effect."

This is how he responded when asked about the initiative of the popular president of Andalusia, Juan Manuel Moreno Bonilla, who announced the abolition of the wealth tax and stressed his intention to attract Catalan investors there.

Sánchez showed little appreciation for this initiative, a discount seconded by Murcia and the community of Madrid itself. "We cannot enter into tax competition between territories, especially when some cut with one hand and with the other go to Europe or to the State Administration to ask for money," he said.

"I make a call for fiscal co-responsibility to all territories," he insisted.

Without going into details, he instead stressed the need to tax those who have the most. He recalled that they have made selective reductions to families or companies and, although the wealth tax is different, "it obeys the same objective, which is to build greater social justice."
