Six tourists from Imserso, seriously injured when their bus fell down an embankment in Mallorca

Six tourists from Imserso have been seriously injured in Mallorca, one of them is in critical condition, as a result of the accident of a bus in which they were traveling around the island and which took place around 10:00 a.m. this Monday. This is the initial balance of injuries, but it is not ruled out that the number will increase since 54 people were traveling on the bus, of whom there is evidence that there are another 17 minor injuries, according to the latest data provided by the Civil Guard.

The tourists were traveling on the bus along the road that connects the municipalities of San Llorenç and Son Servera. At one point, and for reasons that remain unclear, the bus plunged down a slope more than two meters high after taking a curve. The bus has been turned over on its side in a rustic lot and some bushes have cushioned the fall, according to witnesses.

The fall of the vehicle has caused moments of panic among travelers due to the circumstances of the accident. Numerous ambulances from 061 and crews of firefighters and the Civil Guard have traveled to the scene of the accident, in the northeastern area of ​​the island. Those affected have stressed that all of them have been saved because before starting the trip the driver asked them to fasten their seat belts.

The emergency operation has so far rescued the six seriously injured people, among whom is one in critical condition who is being stabilized before being transferred to a hospital. His delicate situation has forced a special operation to be mounted and he has had to be transferred by helicopter to the reference hospital in the Balearic Islands.

At the moment, the balance of injuries, according to the Balearic Health Service, is 7 seriously injured, one of them in critical condition, and 17 slightly injured. Five of the patients have been transferred to Son Espases (one of them by helicopter), 10 to the Manacor hospital, 5 to Son Llàtzer, 5 to the Llevant hospital and 2 to the Muro hospital.

The 061 services have attended to the passengers with minor injuries at the same scene of the accident. Numerous ambulances have traveled to the area upon receiving the notice from the emergency services, which have immediately launched the device that establishes the protocol for these cases. A field hospital has been temporarily installed there.

The Civil Guard has also traveled to the point of the accident and is now investigating what could have caused the bus to leave the road and end up falling down the two-meter-high slope after passing through a curve. There have been no more vehicles involved, but the rescue operation has forced traffic to be regulated in the area, where there have been some delays throughout the morning.
