The Civil Guard has dismantled a network of six members, five men and one woman, between the ages of 21 and 45, who committed robberies with violence and intimidation in gambling establishments, hotels and gas stations in different municipalities of the Community of Madrid, such as Boadilla del Monte, Colmenar Viejo, Las Rozas, Humanes de Madrid, Pozuelo de Alarcón, Fuenlabrada, Getafe and even one in Bailén (Jaén). The stolen amount rises to 40,000 euros in total.
The investigation began in Boadilla del Monte, after robbing a bookmaker up to three times and stealing more than 15,000 euros. The criminals, after intimidating the employees of the premises, threatening them with bladed weapons and committing the robberies, fled to Leganés where they hid.
The way of proceeding was almost always very similar: they rented vehicles to which they changed the license plates. These were stolen in Leganés and Getafe from other cars to elude the police. They always acted at night, in the case of betting houses and gas stations just before closing, to ensure greater collection and that there were no customers inside. All of them were hooded with gloves and caps to avoid being identified.
The judicial unit of the Civil Guard of Villaviciosa de Odón perceived in the betting house that the criminals were always the same, with which the investigation turned to the group of violent robberies of the Madrid command.
One of the members of the group stayed outside to keep watch and three or four individuals entered the premises and threatened the employees with bladed weapons and forced them to open the safe deposit boxes to take the cash.
The members of this network have fixed their residence in Leganés, although they moved to other municipalities in the area that they already had visualized to perpetrate the robberies with violence.
