Sevilla remains in the dark at the Phillips Stadium harmed by Orsato

In an electric match, Sevilla was left in half-light at the Phillips Stadium, a stage that brought back good memories, where they won their first Europa League in 2006. Poetic justice did not smile on the Andalusian team, which suffered a controversial refereeing by controversial Daniele Orsato – one of Mourinho's friends – and ended up letting victory slip away with a goal in the 95th minute that frustrated his feat.

The tie for the Andalusians, who were urgently visiting Eindhoven, was little known. To qualify for the round of 16 they had to start adding three at a time, taking into account the draw at home with Lens and that they will play twice against Arsenal in November.

Victory escaped Sevilla when it was closest. En-Nesyri's 1-2, a spectacular header in the 87th minute, finishing off a measured center from Juanlu, did justice to the two referee decisions by Orsato that clearly harmed him.

In the first (m. 52), the referee invalidated a good goal by Adrià Pedrosa due to an involuntary handball. In a clearance error by Ramalho, the ball hit the Catalan full-back's hand, close to his body, just before crossing with a powerful shot in front of Benítez. Orsato did not hesitate to cancel the possible 0-1.

PSV forgave what is not written, especially Luuk de Jong, the former Sevilla player (from 2019 to 2021), the hero of the sixth Europa League. The Dutch striker had the best opportunities to overtake his team, like Lang, but Nyland's lack of aim prevented the home team from taking advantage.

Hurt by the disallowed goal, Sevilla found their reward with a just goal from Gudelj in a play born from a corner. Jesús Navas put a cross to the far post that Ramos came down from the sky and finished off with a volley with anger, arriving Gudelj on the run (m. 68).

Orsato's second setback came in the form of a more than doubtful penalty from Ramos. Tillman fainted when he saw the center-back's feet, and Orsato stung twice, live and watching the replay on the VAR. De Jong scored a low penalty to make it 1-1 in the 86th minute.

Sevilla's replica was spectacular. He took it from the center, opened to the right, where Juanlu put an excellent center that En-Nesyri headed powerfully (m. 87). Lukebakio had the verdict in the 90th minute, but his shot hit the post.

And from a possible 1-3 to 2-2, which came from a naive foul by Ramos. The ball went into the area, which was left loose without anyone clearing it, and Teze caught it at the far post.

Then came the lamentations. Who else, Ramos. “I think the referee was more of a protagonist today than he should have been. It seemed like everything was against us today,” the center-back complained.
