Second forest fire in the province of Granada so far this week

There are already two forest fires that have occurred in the province of Granada so far this week. The last of them, which occurred in the Río Añales area, in the municipality of Arenas del Rey, in the Alhama region, has already been considered controlled at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday by the Forest Fire Extinction Operational Service of Andalusia, Plan Infoca.

This has been reported by the forestry device on social networks, which has indicated that this fire is expected to have affected an area equal to or less than one hectare.

The control takes place after the Infoca has withdrawn the three aerial means during Tuesday noon due to the fact that the fire presented a favorable evolution.

The withdrawal of the two cargo planes on the ground and the medium-heavy helicopter took place at 2:30 p.m. Three groups of forest firefighters continued to work to stabilize the fire, with two pumping trucks, together with an operations technician, and an environmental agent.

It is the second fire that affects a forest area in the province of Granada so far this week, after this past Monday there was an outbreak of fire in Cáñar, in the Alpujarra, which was extinguished at 7:30 p.m. after affecting less than one hectare, withdrawing the means deployed, among which there was at first, also after noon, a medium-heavy helicopter.

The extraordinary heat wave and the extreme drought that the community is suffering is the perfect breeding ground for fires, which is why the Junta de Andalucía has extended the suspension of all types of agricultural burning and fires in recreational areas in an extraordinary way. at least until May 8.

The head of the Ministry of the Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue and Administrative Simplification, Antonio Sanz, reminds citizens to "extreme precautions given the high temperatures that are reached these days".

Infoca, the Andalusian Forest Fire Extinction Operational Service, calls for caution due to the high risk of fire due to the heat and lack of rainfall.
