Sant Adrià de Besòs will signal the new pedalable route to improve internal connectivity

Next summer, the Sant Adrià de Besòs City Council (Barcelonès Nord) is expected to carry out a tactical action on Pi i Maragall avenue, between the Arc roundabout and Joan XXIII avenue, to improve the internal and external connectivity of the municipality and accessibility of the most sustainable modes of transport.

This section, which forms part of a much larger axis that will connect all the municipalities of the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) from Badalona to Cornellà (Bicivia 5), will improve the continuity of the space of the old Nacional II dedicated to pedestrian use and the bicycle, completing the section executed and financed with European funds in July 2022 on Tibidabo street until connecting with the one that Badalona will execute in 2024 on Alfonso XIII avenue.

The planned intervention will be carried out on a tactical basis, without forgetting the objective of carrying out the works to gain safe space for pedestrians and cyclists. All this will allow the action to be carried out immediately and with a contained economic cost. It will also serve to observe and assess the behavior of the solution and the new demands that may arise before its final implementation.

The tactical project will improve pedestrian mobility, calm the road, expand pedestrian spaces, incorporate a segregated bike lane on the road and continue with the reduction of lanes dedicated to road traffic started with the previous work.

To achieve these objectives, the project provides for resurfacing of the Dels Passadors bridge roadway and the redefinition of roads and sidewalks with paint and protections in continuity with the roadway carried out in the first phase (between Barcelona and the Arc de Sant Adrià roundabout). ), with the expansion of the area intended for pedestrian use and the extension of the cycle path to the municipality of Badalona, where it is expected to connect with the future remodeling of Alfonso XIII.

This project is part of the Environmental Sustainability Program of the Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) and contemplates a work execution period of four months and a budget of 308,000 euros.

The City Council and the AMB continue working on the executive documents for the works of phases II and III, which will have to assume the results of the observation and assessment of the behavior of this tactical solution and the new demands that may arise, as well as provide a solution. in line with the action that Badalona plans to carry out on Alfonso XIII avenue.
