On December 1, the Local Security Board of Sant Adrià de Besòs (Barcelonès Nord) was held, with the participation of the Minister of the Interior, Joan Ignasi Elena; the mayor of Sant Adrià, Filo Cañete; the subdelegate of the government in Catalonia, Pepín Beltran and representatives of the police forces responsible for security in the municipality, Mossos d'Esquadra and Local Police, as well as representatives of the National Police and the Civil Guard. The balance was positive due to the reduction in the number of crimes recorded.
The action data presented by both the regional and local police shows the positive impact that the coordination work has had, the increase in personnel and the greater presence on the street of the security forces. As for the Mossos d'Esquadra, in the last three years 29 new agents have joined the Sant Adrià Citizen Security Unit. Regarding the Local Police, the staff currently stands at 70 officers and since 2021 the Sant Adrià City Council has been promoting a process of rejuvenation of the workforce that has resulted in an improvement in the efficiency of the service.
The arrests made by the Mossos d'Esquadra in Sant Adrià, between November 2022 and October 2023, have increased by 19.7% in relation to the previous period. Also the Local Police, which presented the 2022 report, made more arrests during 2022 (96 arrests) compared to 2021 (82 arrests).
Regarding the type of crime, the Mossos d'Esquadra report indicates that overall crimes have decreased by 0.4%. Those that decreased the most were crimes against property (-1.4%), especially robberies with violence and/or intimidation (-22.7) and robberies with force (-5.4%). Of the robberies with violence and/or intimidation, those committed in public spaces (-25.9%), in establishments (-48.6%) and at home (-66.7%) are especially reduced. Also, of the robberies with force, those that decreased the most were those perpetrated in establishments (-44.6%) and at home (-25.5%).
In addition to crimes against property, crimes against people (-1.8%) and against public order (-6.9%) decrease and crimes against road safety increase (33%), as a result of the intensification of police control.
Regarding the Local Police, global services (citizen security, traffic, administrative and judicial police, citizen attention, administrative procedures, public roads, civil protection and environment) increase in 2022 (15,643) compared to 2021 (12,026). Specifically, the services of the Local Police in matters of citizen security increase significantly (3,614 in 2021, 5,903 in 2022) and also in matters of traffic (3,094, in 2021, 4,554 in 2022). Regarding traffic, the investigation of sanctioning files also increases: 13,437 (2021), 13,955 (2022).
