The Russian Progress MS-26 freighter docked this Saturday with the Russian International Space Station (ISS), to which it carried more than 2.5 tons of fuel, water, food and equipment.
The automatic spacecraft, launched last Thursday from the Baikonur Cosmodrome (Kazakhstan), docked with the Zvezdá module of the Russian segment of the ISS at 06:08 GMT, according to the live broadcast of Roscosmos, the Russian space agency.
The Progress transported 2,518 kilograms of cargo in its holds, including 580 kilograms of fuel, 420 liters of water and 40 kilograms of liquid nitrogen.
In addition, it carried 1,478 kilograms of equipment and tools, as well as various materials necessary for scientific experiments, clothing, food and hygiene items for the crew.
The space freighter was received by Russian cosmonauts Konstantin Borisov, Oleg Kononenko and Nikolai Chub, who share the ISS with American astronauts Jasmin Moghbeli and Lorah O'Hara, Norwegian Andreas Mogensen and Japanese Satoshi Furukawa.
The Progress MS were created on the basis of the Soviet Soyuz manned ships by the Energuia space company, in order to transport loads to orbital stations and also serve to correct their orbits using their thrusters.
