Roca Group enters 2,092 million and reduces profit by 76% in 2022

Roca Group has withstood the difficulties of the 2022 financial year. The Roca family's multinational bathroom products closed with revenues of 2,092 million euros, 1.9% more than in the 2021 financial year.

Sources from the Catalan multinational explain that the slowdown in growth – in 2021, revenue increased by 22% – is explained by the sale of its seven factories in Russia, one of its most promising markets that the firm was forced to abandon. because of the Ukrainian war. In addition, the company suffered the impact of the rise in energy costs and the drop in demand caused by inflation. It is for this same reason that net profit fell by 76%, going from 179 to 42 million euros. Gross profit (ebitda) stood at 356 million, equivalent to 17% of turnover.

Despite the sale of the Russian business and the unfavorable situation, the company assures that it has increased investments by 9%, to 135 million euros. Among the projects, the expansion and improvement of the productive capacity of the plants in Brazil and India, a new factory for resin shower trays and bathtubs in Poland, the expansion of the bathroom furniture business in Spain and Portugal, and investments in decarbonization and sustainability. In addition, the company has also converted its plant in Croatia into a logistics center, transforming it into a hub that provides services to the main markets in central Europe.

Looking ahead to the 2023 financial year, company sources prefer not to share estimates about the business. This year, the family business has continued to grow through acquisitions with the purchase of the American firm Madeli, which bills about 13 million dollars a year (the price of the operation was not disclosed). This year has also been fruitful in terms of investment in innovation through the Roca Group Ventures platform. It has made an initial investment in the startup Aquí Tu Reforma and has analyzed more than 120 projects.

Founded in 1917, the company has become one of the world's leading designers, manufacturers and sellers of bath products. It is present in 170 countries and has a total of 76 factories throughout the world. Altogether, the company employs 21,000 people.
