The Mossos d'Esquadra are looking for the perpetrator of the robbery that took place this morning at a bank branch in the center of Blanes. The thief locked the three employees of the entity and the three clients who were in the bank at that time in a room and fled with a loot of around 18,000 euros.
According to witnesses and images from the bank office cameras, the robber is a middle-aged man, between 30 and 40 years old. At the time of the robbery he was wearing gray pants and his face was partially covered by sunglasses, a mask and a sports cap.
The events occurred shortly before 9 in the morning in a central branch of the Banc de Sabadell. The man entered the branch, shortly after it opened to the public, taking advantage of the customers' entrance.
The criminal approached the person in charge of the office, threatening them with a gun and an alleged grenade, which he has not shown at any time, so that he would give him all the money in the safes.
When the employee explained that he had to wait 15 minutes for boxes to be opened, the robber locked the employees and customers who were in the office in a room. According to witnesses, the thief acted "very calmly."
When the two safes were opened, the man took the estimated 18,000 euros and before leaving the bank, he locked up the person in charge of the office with the rest of the hostages and took the key to the room where he left them held.
When Local Police officers showed up with three patrol cars at the branch, the thief had already fled. To free the hostages, the participation of the Bombers was necessary, who forced the door. All of them were unharmed, except for one client who had to be treated for an anxiety attack.
The Mossos, who have taken charge of the case, are looking for the perpetrator of the robbery and have deployed an extensive device to find him. One of the places where they have searched for him has been the train station.
