Restlessness in the PSPV: the Baldoví and Illueca fight is "a dangerous Russian roulette" for 28M

Joan Baldoví and Hector Illueca. It is not about them, or not only about them, but they serve as a reference; one candidate for the Generalitat for Compromís, the other for Unides Podem, UP. It is about their respective political forces, key in the Botànic, and the risky confrontational strategy chosen at the decisive moment. With the main battlefield in Madrid, always Madrid, but with dangerous consequences in the Valencian Community.

Let's change the order of citation, let's start with Illueca. The UP candidate charges against Compromís, whom he blames for blowing up the Podemos agreement with Sumar, for giving in to pressure from "PSOE-affiliated media." And Baldoví, the Valencian candidate flirts with Yolanda Díaz, and encourages her to campaign for her formation (as Joan Ribó also does), while her troops are indignant with Podem. Dangerous game, voter confusion.

In the PSPV they want to get away from that confrontation scenario, they want to bet on a calm campaign, focused on defending the management and the achievements of eight years of government; in the president Ximo Puig is not going to spend a second questioning his partners, and he will not pay attention to the attacks from the right. The PSPV and Ximo Puig, no matter how well the 28M event goes for them, know that they will not be able to sustain, maintain, revalidate in solitude the project started eight years ago. The president said it yesterday: "The agreement between Podem and Esquerra Unida is good to avoid an extraordinary fragmentation that makes the Valencian Community more ungovernable."

What is now the priority of Compromís and UP? Think about the general ones or think about the regional ones? These questions are asked by leaders of the PSPV. Compromís and Unides Podem will not go to the regional elections together, nor did they do so in 2019, it was expected. What was not seen four years ago, they point out, and even less so in 2015, was this crossroads of criticism, responsibilities, threats for what is happening in Madrid, between Sumar and Podemos. "It seems that they want failure", they say, "they are playing Russian roulette for 28M". "This favors the right," they conclude.

Are they the only ones responsible? In the biosphere there are other actors, whose actions and messages are conditioning the Valencian campaign, for better or for worse, active or passive. Yolanda Díaz and Pablo Iglesias as examples, although there are prominent secondary ones that blow up bridges on social networks. Will Yolanda Díaz campaign in favor of Compromís? Will Illueca continue charging against the Valencianist coalition? Are the objectives clear for the Valencian 28M? While doubts emerge, in the PSPV they do not want to generate risks: "You have to mobilize the entire center left."
