The beautiful light filtered through the stained glass windows of the Gothic cathedral of León is well worth the 4 hours and 37 minutes that the High Speed train has spent since yesterday between that city and Valencia, thanks to the new AVE service that Renfe has just inaugurated.
Currently this train ends its route in Madrid, but as of yesterday, April 8, it extends it to Valencia, circulating every day. The departure time from the Leon terminal will be 6:28 p.m., with arrival in Valencia at 11:05 p.m. In the opposite direction, the AVE has its departure time from the Valencian station at 10:32, arriving in León at 3:10 p.m.
In addition, Renfe launched yesterday the first Avlo service in Castilla y León with a connection between Valladolid-Alicante/Murcia in which it becomes the first low-cost high-speed train to circulate in the region. From the same day, Renfe expands its offer of AVE services in Castilla y León with two new connections: Burgos-Murcia and León-València.
The launch of these three high-speed connections coincide with the start of a new phase of the works that Adif is carrying out at the Madrid Chamartín Clara Campoamor station, to increase the capacity of this terminal.
The new Avlo and AVE services in Castilla y León are permanently incorporated into the railway company's commercial offer beyond the month of July, the scheduled date for Adif to complete this phase of the works. The new Valladolid-Alicante departs at 3:50 p.m. and arrives at 7:34 p.m. The return journey departs from Murcia station at 10:32 and arrives in the capital of Valladolid at 3:18 p.m.
One of the new AVE will connect Burgos - a city also with a splendid cathedral - with Alicante and Murcia, in just over four and a half hours. It will depart every day except Saturdays, at 5:18 p.m., arriving in Murcia at 10:09 p.m. In the opposite direction, it will run every day except Sundays, leaving the Murcian capital at 6:30 and arriving in Burgos at 11:03.
