Promoters, builders, architects, surveyors, engineers, interior designers and installers: up to 20,000 players from the construction value chain will meet at REBUILD 2023, the benchmark meeting point for all building professionals, which is celebrating its sixth edition at IFEMA Madrid from March 28 to 30. For three days, the keys will be given so that the sector can successfully overcome the current challenges from industrialization, digitization and sustainability.
Under the slogan "Building together", the event will address the collaboration of the different agents in the value chain in a public-private environment, between companies, between professionals and with the participation of different stakeholders. In order to jointly undertake a real transformation of the industry, the solutions that are currently being used to promote industrialization, digitization and sustainability in each of the stages of building projects will be analyzed.
Two IFEMA Madrid pavilions, one more than in the last edition, will host a commercial offer that includes lighting solutions for interiors, kitchens, bathrooms, enclosures, floors and surfaces, facades, energy efficiency, air conditioning, home automation, digitization and BIM, or industrialized construction systems in 2D or 3D. 544 exhibiting firms will participate, a figure that represents exponential growth compared to the 280 and 372 that did so in 2021 and 2022, respectively. Under the umbrella of the summit, the National Congress of Advanced Architecture and Construction 4.0 will also take place, with a unique program of conferences attended by more than 560 international experts and in which trends will be advanced, innovations will be announced and solutions will be resolved. the main unknowns that concern the industry.
One of the key issues that will be highlighted is the need to establish a specific legal framework for industrialized construction that helps accelerate the use of this model, which currently represents an average of 2% in buildings nationwide. In this sense, emphasis will be placed on the need to involve traditional banks and alternative financing methods so that they understand this paradigm shift in construction and facilitate new credit vehicles.
The current legislative context will also be put on the table at the National Congress of Advanced Architecture and Construction 4.0, which will analyze the impact of NextGeneration funds on the rehabilitation and energy transition of the Spanish housing stock. Despite the opportunity they represented, the reality is that in October 2022, 32% of the total aid remained pending activation. A challenge that, added to the lack of labor and the rise in the prices of materials, is one of the great concerns of the sector.
Likewise, light will be shed on doubts about renewable energies to give a boost to the sustainability of the building with solutions that promote thermal generation facilities based on natural sources such as biomass, geothermal energy, or renewable electricity generation for self-consumption. . Sustainable materials and the adoption of environmental certifications will also be discussed in order to comply with the European Green Pact, which provides for the cessation of emissions by 2050.
The great building summit will also maintain its commitment to shelling out the new demands of users and construction models, such as the "Build to rent", which will have its own forum in which the transition to rent that is being experienced will be explained in Europe and has arrived in Spain. Likewise, the need to promote promotions dedicated to leasing and destined, especially, to social housing will be underlined.
Therefore, the program of presentations will undoubtedly be one of the great attractions of the event. Construction Tech Startup Forum, for its part, will be aimed at national and, for the first time, international startups that lead the use of technology to optimize any aspect within the building sector. Companies will be able to present themselves in front of investors and industry leaders in order to promote their solution and make it scalable. In the Industrialization Challenge, companies that offer solutions to industrialize construction will present their proposals to interested developers and builders.
With the aim of forging relationships from which transformative collaborative projects emerge, construction leaders and entrepreneurs will meet with authorities at the Leadership Summit, while real estate agents will share their concerns and challenges at the Economic Breakfast for Promoters. The program also includes several collaborative workshops, in order to learn methodologies and strategies that encourage teamwork among all the actors in the sector.
