Prison for a monitor accused of raping seven minors in Arenys de Munt

A horse riding instructor has entered prison accused of sexually assaulting seven minors in Arenys de Munt (Maresme), according to what TV3 has advanced and the ACN has confirmed to judicial sources.

The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested the alleged attacker last Tuesday, a 38-year-old man who worked at the La Espiga Equestrian Nature Center, after one of the victims reported the case on Monday and six other girls joined the cause.

The attacks would have started in 2016 and would have occurred in a caravan located in the center of La Espiga, but also in a car and at the defendant's house. The victims, some under 14 years of age, also denounce constant psychological abuse —with shouting and insults— and physical attacks.

The Arenys de Mar duty court took a statement from the accused yesterday Friday and sent him to provisional prison, communicated and without bail, with an open case for crimes against sexual freedom of minors under 16 years of age.

The seven victims assure that they are not the only ones affected and that there are more students who have not yet taken the step of denouncing. The Mossos d'Esquadra keep the investigation open to clarify the exact circumstances of the attacks and abuses, and also to try to locate other possible victims of the riding instructor of the Espiga Equestrian Center, located in a natural area on the road to Lourdes.
