Primoz Roglic leaves Jumbo and signs for Bora for two seasons

The director of the Bora-Hansgrohe team, Ralph Denk, announced this Friday through a virtual press conference one of the most anticipated news: that “Primoz Roglic will race with us for the next few years.”

The 33-year-old Slovenian, one of the figures of the international peloton, with a Giro d'Italia and three Vuelta a España in his record, signs for the German team for two seasons, until December 2026. He leaves the Jumbo after eight seasons and continues with his sights set on the next Tour de France, the grand round that is missing from his record (he was 2nd in 2020).

Roglic announced on Saturday that he would be leaving Jumbo-Visma, despite having another two years left on his contract. The Dutch team, which has accompanied the Slovenian since the 2016 World Tour, has not made any problems to facilitate his departure.

Ralph Denk hopes that Bora's new signing can reflect the spirit of the German team in all competitions: “Primoz appreciates the strength of our team and knows the great potential of his future teammates.”

“I am convinced that his personality will inspire the entire team, because he is a leader who wants to win and at the same time he is a team player, but above all he loves what he does and for me that is the key to success” , praised the Bora skipper about the current Giro d'Italia champion.

The 33-year-old cyclist thus ends up at Bora after several rumors that placed him in Ineos, Lidl-Trek or Movistar, and secures a guaranteed team, which has already won the Giro d'Italia with Jay Hindley in 2022 , in which he will not be in the shadow of a leader.

Primoz Roglic will earn around four million euros, according to several media outlets; a figure that is around the six million earned by Tadej Pogacar, the highest earner in the squad.
